Avernus is an independently operated live action role-playing (LARP) network, set in the original White Wolf World of Darkness™ prior to the Time of Thin Blood (the Gangrel are still in the Camarilla and the Assamites are out).

We use Laws of the Night Revised and other MET 2nd Edition Mechanic. We will NOT be transitioning to WoD 2.0 currently being referred to as: Vampire: The Requiem nor will be using megaplot "post-Week of Nightmares." Please refer to our House Rules and Errata for any clarifications to mechanic you plan use in play.

We recommend players read Laws of the Night Revised and Laws of the Night - Camarilla Guide and hope you will familiarize yourself with whatever clan book is pertinent to your character.

Avernus Games LARP Network is an organization dedicated to the creation of Mind’s Eye Theater live action role-playing (LARP) events in the fullness of the World of Darkness multi-genre setting. We promote the LARP experience of the White Wolf© genres by providing translations of non-LARP genres, assisting the development of regional game groups, hosting special events and convention games and aiding Storytellers and Members in the creation of a unified World of Darkness. In this setting, all members share in each others games as though they were in a single chronicle, creating a worldwide environment as a gripping and dynamic role-playing backdrop that facilitates the stimulating improvisational theater experience that is LARP. Red Mountain Chronicle is our first game launch of the new network.

12.18.2011 –
We had a great game last week and are up to our eyebrows in downtimes. Thanks so much and it is good to see the in character forums getting so much traffic!
The next games are
Dec 23 and on Dec 30 (5th weekend) we are having a potpuck at Killienne & Char's place. Please have any new characters in by Dec 21 for the next game. New players are encouraged to come early their first time so we can get them acclimated.

12.4.2011 –
We are returning to our regular 2nd and 4th Friday schedule this month. Hopefully we will get through the holidays just fine. The Sabbat siege is ramping up. Get in your downtimes regarding your personal security, haven locations and precautions, your activities during this week and what you are looking into. The streets are HOT despite the cold. Beeeewaaaaare! Please get in influence actions sooner than later. Feeding is getting more difficult for those without herd. There is a lot going on in the background so keep your eyes open for downtime emails!
If you are submitting a new character for this Friday, please have at least the character sheet (background can come in a little later if need be) by Wednesday before the game. Our info officer would be most grateful.

For those of you who are interested in also playing in a Sabbat Chronicle, I strongly recommend Front Range Sabbat that began last Friday in Arvada and will be played on the 1st and 3rd Fridays, complimenting our own Chronicle. Though Front Range Sabbat does not cross-over with ours, it is still a good time. Enjoy!

10.02.2011 – POTLUCK PARTY  ON OCT. 7!
At the request of many players recently, though we have a 5th weekend this month, they want to get together. So, this Friday we will be having a pot luck dinner with soft RP if you with (staff available) and just time to enjoy each other's company. Alcolhol is allowed as this is not a game. Door open at 7 at Avernus House.  If you have never played with us before and want to meet the players and staff, get a feel for how Red Mountain works and the people, get a character built under the staff tutelage or just want to feel us out. Please come. You are more than welcome. We may have a little class or workshop on some of the intricacies of the game, game mechanic, or World of Darkness history, depending on what you would like to hear. For the address if you don't have it please contact us at info@avernusgames.com.

9.18.2011 –
November Scheduling problems: Critical staff for the game will be gone the 2nd weekend and on the 4th weekend Thanksgiving is the day before. Would you prefer we move weekends around to
(a.) the 1st and 3rd or maybe,
(b.) the 3rd and go ahead and play on the 25th or
(c.) 1st and 25th?
I know I am bored come the end of the holiday and am more than happy to run the game then. Your opinions are very important. PLEASE respond with your choice to info@avernusgames.com.

Helio all!

Friday game is coming and the staff have a special request. Last time we had the majority of folks arrive late and many had downtimes they wanted to do as well. This pushed back start time and dramatically shortened came time which we feel is at minimum already. Downtimes can be done by email or between 6:00-7:30, after that we must close registration and begin game. Registration is between 7:30 and 8:00. We request that brand new players attempt to arrive by 6:00 or as early as possible so the staff can focus on getting your character oriented and you are a player oriented in general. We hope that this will help new players to become more easily settled in and comfortable and they will given priority.

Thanks so much for your kind cooperation,

  ~Killienne
HST – Red Mountain Chronicle

7.16.2011 – We are getting new players that are creating characters the night of game. While this is a problem for the staff these folks are coming in based on posters that are out in various game stores that do not state the deadline. In the interest of not having someone drive all the way up from Co. Springs only to be told they cannot play, the staff has agreed to open our doors at 6pm-7pm for these players to come and get assistance and registered. Registration (spending XP, sign in, all that rot) will be from 7-7:30pm. Game will begin to those ready at 7:30. We are taking on more staff to help accommodate this process and assist with narration. Location: 10089 Silvercliff Lane, Littleton (Roxborough), CO 80125

3.26.2011 –
Publicity posters are being delivered to game, book and other hobby stores throughout the Denver Metro area tomorrow. Characters and players have begun submitting characters to our Registry. If you want a good shot in the generation lottery, it is best if you use it as early as possible. Characters who buy their generation result in those draws in the lotter being removed, raising the odds that your later draw will be either low gen or very high, with high being in the majority.

Join Us!

To participate in the game you must fill out the Avernus player data form and the character creation form. The latter will be reviewed, and once approved, you will recieve an Invitation to begin attending. Do not attend prior to this time as we do not allow observers or accept walk-ins. Check the Character Creation page for more information before you begin.

Theater!
The goal of LARP is to recreate an environment, both psychologically as well as partly in the physcial realm. This feeling of emersion in an alien world aids players in releasing disbelief and allowing the to roleplay more intensely. To that end...

Costumes/Make-up –
Costuming for your character enhances the roleplaying experience for others and possibly yourself measurably. We strongly recommend, at minimum, that you arrange for some sort of costuming for your character. It is useful as a psychological tool to get into character as many actors do. We find it helps people to stay in-character as well. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be effective. In many cases a character can be very memorable from one distinctive piece, a consistant prop or a simple makeup job. Don't worry about looking stupid; this is a place to experiment. We will all look silly together.

Props –
We welcome the use of props to add to the experience, however we do not wish to have trouble with security or the police, so some guidelines have been developed to assure safety while having a good time. We play in public areas and so these guidelines will be in effect for public area use. Should we be using a private location, exceptions will be posted.

Props enhance action as people actually have something to focus on, handle and gesture with but we are sadly constrained by the need for extreme caution and avoiding startling law enforcement who may become confused and react poorly to a bunch of rough looking weirdos. We are relying on players to use common sense, however any lack thereof will require us to use a strictly prop-card system.

No real weapons will ever be allowed. No replica weapons are to be visible outside the private gaming area. If in doubt about a particular prop, please consult the Storyteller.

Weapons and similar props require a matching prop-card which carries its mechanic data, or they do not exist in character. Prop-cards can be obtained from staff at character creation or along the way at sign-in, but must be passed and signed by a Storyteller before use. This will not happen unless your character has a legitimate reason and source for such an item. Most weapons and similar have an availability listing with their other statistics in either Laws of the Night or Dark Epics.
